How To Be More Productive: Lessons Learned From The Best Productivity Experts

Let's define productivity. Productivity is a measure of efficiency of a person completing a task. We often assume that productivity means getting more things done each day. Wrong. Productivity is getting important things done consistently. And no matter what you are working on, there are only a few things that are truly important.

What is Productivity?

A large part of productivity comes from people and products. In an ideal world, we would have the best and most reliable people and products to meet the needs of all. But it is hard to find the best people and the best products. It is also difficult to constantly find the people and products you need, let alone get them on time. It is also hard to sustain a consistent and high level of excellence. We all want to be successful and to be recognized, but it is easy to burn out. Employees, suppliers and customers don't always share your vision of success, and you must be able to deal with this. To do this, we must adopt a set of key principles for making ourselves and others as productive as possible.

Identifying Your Most Important Tasks

If you want to get more done, then you have to narrow down what truly matters to you. Your priorities determine what you work on first, and what you finish. As you narrow down your priorities, you'll also see more efficient ways to get things done. To get yourself organized, start by having one to three important tasks that you want to accomplish that day, and then list them in order of priority. Below is a list of seven essential tasks for entrepreneurs to complete. Step 1: Pick Your Most Important Task Decide what task or projects will take the most time and effort, and write it down. It's much easier to get started if you have a clear definition of the most important thing to get done that day.

The Power of Prioritizing

Productivity is all about efficiency. And it begins with prioritization. You have to know what's most important. This means finding your core mission. What is the one thing you are passionate about, and that you are most likely to feel energized about? What do you work best on? And then you have to understand what will most directly make you more productive. Don't create a list of to-dos that seem important, but that you'll get to in a month or so. Create a list of what you are going to do each day, for which you are going to put the most energy. To become more productive, put the most important things at the top of the list, the rest of the list second, and the rest of the list at the bottom. The Missing Piece Productivity and prioritization go hand in hand.

Setting Boundaries

Managing my own tasks requires having boundaries. I assign jobs to specific employees. I also have regular meetings where I sit down and talk to all of my employees to review what's going on. It helps everyone focus and helps me keep an eye on tasks that aren't getting finished. Leverage The Power Of Mentorship As a self-employed business owner, I've learned that you can't manage all your employees. I've also learned that there are certain things that are considered "managing" and other things that I'd rather not touch. But there are a few things that can only be managed by managers. When I first started my business, I had no real way to manage people other than making all the decisions myself. In the beginning, it was difficult to manage everyone.

Finding Your Focus

Many people struggle with getting motivated. They get in a rut of constantly changing jobs and careers, they change their hair, get tattoos, adopt new diets, join yoga classes, start a juice cleanse, or buy a new pair of gym shoes. These things make us feel better but they do little to increase our productivity. But getting things done for the sake of accomplishing something else makes you less productive. Instead, find what inspires you. Set aside one to two days a week and dedicate it to productive work. Pick one goal and focus on it. Investing time in something you believe in will motivate you and bring you happiness. Learn something new. Try a new skill or a new hobby. Learn new information. You will never know where it may take you.

Conclusion

Entrepreneurs work all the time to turn ideas into a sustainable business. Their ideas are worth putting your energy into, but sometimes they are not the ones that matter most. One way to maintain a healthy mindset is to be more mindful. I love Eckhart Tolle's definition of mindfulness: "Mindfulness means to be present in the here and now, with the full responsibility of seeing clearly and being conscious of the reality of my experience right here, right now." Not only is a daily meditation practice great for productivity, it is also one of the best ways to be more mindful.
